building a GK Village

GK or Gawad Kalinga is a Filipino phrase which
means  "to give care". It is a movement that seeks to
alleviate poverty in the world through an approach that
is comprehensive, integrated, and sustainable.

GK is the foundation of this volunteer initiative for
ANCOP Canada, a registered non-profit. For more

Assisting in construction and landscaping of
GK villages
Interaction with the local villagers and
community leaders
Exposure to local developmental policies and

In 2006, the town of Looc in Calamba
was devastated by Typhoon Milenyo.
More than 12,000 people were left
homeless and thousands of homes
destroyed. Even before the typhoon, the
village was full of squatters. The dream
now is to rebuild and to rebuild BETTER.
Looc already has a working partnership
with GK, as well as the government of
Calamba. The land has been secured for
homes. All they need are the funds.

That's where our help comes in.
